About Boya

The Department of Philosophy is a part of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Science at Chongqing University. Comprising three principal units of research (Chinese philosophy, Western philosophy, and Classics), the Department of Philosophy has accordingly established three Research Centers to strengthen its specialties and to conduct cutting-edge, cross-disciplinary teaching and research: the Center for Chinese Classic Hermeneutics, the Center for Phenomenology and First Philosophy, and the Center for Classical Civilization and Political Philosophy.

Currently, the department has over twenty faculty members (including professors, associate professors, and assistant professors) and offers a variety of lectures for both graduates and undergraduates. Students are also encouraged to participate in seminars. To provide a more individualized education, a face-to-face communication (i.e. office hour) is available to students who want to have a further and deeper discussion with any faculty member. Our program emphasizes academic and critical writing skills.
