Liberal Arts College Holds a Talk with Staff from “the Lecture Room”

In recent years, the Liberal Arts College has been leveraging its academic strengths and developing its unique directions, while contributing to the cultural development of the campus. Moreover, the college has actively engaged in social services and established close ties with various media outlets. This has played a significant role in thought leadership and cultural influence, facilitating the transformation and dissemination of traditional Chinese culture.


On May 18th, a talk with the renowned CCTV show, "Lecture Room" was held in the Liberal Arts College of Chongqing University. Nearly 30 people attended the discussion, including the producer, editor-in-chief, editors, and editor-in-chief of the staff, as well as the leadership and teacher representatives of the Liberal Arts College. The meeting was chaired by Wan Manlu, Deputy Director of the Chinese Department of the Liberal Arts College.

Yao Fei, Vice Dean of the Liberal Arts College, extends a warm welcome to all staff members on behalf of the college. He provides an overview of Chongqing University’s history and highlights the college’s achievements in developing its key academic disciplines, faculty teams, and pedagogy since its establishment. He expresses his gratitude for the guests’ visit to the Liberal Arts College, which demonstrates their recognition of the college’s faculty strength and operational model. He hopes that this discussion will foster deep collaboration and joint efforts to promote the popularization of humanities and social sciences, as well as the dissemination of Chinese traditional culture.

Qu Xinzhi, the producer of the Lecture Room, expressed his gratitude and expectation for the Liberal Arts College. He mentioned that for the past 20 years, the Lecture Room has been a renowned program dedicated to promoting Chinese culture and sharing inspiring stories. It has also served as a platform for scholars to engage in social services, bridging the gap between academia, media, and the public. The Lecture Room has a long-standing tradition of venturing into colleges and universities to discover new speakers, explore fresh topics, and plan captivating content. Qu Xinzhi hopes that through profound exchanges and discussions with the faculty members of the Liberal Arts College, they can collaborate to drive social transformation and facilitate public engagement with academic achievements.


Following Qu Xinzhi’s speech, representatives from the Chinese, history, and philosophy departments of the Liberal Arts College introduced their respective fields of expertise, special courses, and shared suggestions for topic selection. The staff members recorded the session and actively participated in interactive discussions by asking questions. The meeting fostered close exchanges on various aspects such as cultural enrichment, academic depth, innovative perspectives, and storytelling empathy. The atmosphere was vibrant with creativity, as participants engaged in brainstorming sessions filled with laughter.


The CCP's 20th National Congress report proposed to "collect and refine the defining symbols and best elements of Chinese culture and showcase them to the world. We will accelerate the development of China’s discourse and narrative systems, better tell China’s stories, make China’s voice heard, and present a China that is credible, appealing, and respectable". As the task construction unit of the school to revitalize the basic liberal arts, the Liberal Arts College will always be based on its own advantages and characteristics. It encourages teachers to continue studying and exploring the connotation of excellent traditional culture, brilliantly presenting the image of Chinese civilization. The college continuously cultivates the culture of Chongqing University’s basic liberal arts .
